Free Youth Kayak Training
🛶 Youth Kayak Training – Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 October
Whether you’ve already entered the Youth Hard Labourer or you’re still deciding, this one’s for you.
We’re excited to have Danika from Canoe Racing New Zealand running free kayak training sessions on Lake Ruataniwha over the school holidays, helping get our Youth Hard Labourer paddlers ready for the big day. 💪
📍 Where: Lake Ruataniwha Lagoon (off Freda De Fur Ave)
🗓️ When: Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October, 9:30am each day (a second session at 11am may run depending on numbers). We’d love to see entrants at both days if you can make it.
Ages: 12 to 17 (a bit younger is fine, just get in touch with us first)
Experience: none needed
Gear provided: sit on top surf ski kayaks with rudders, and paddles
Bring: a PFD/life jacket, warm clothes, shoes that can get wet, and a dry change of clothes and towel
Cost: free
Training is designed for Youth Hard Labourer entrants, with a few spots open for other budding young paddlers too if numbers allow.
Still on the fence about entering? The Kayak is capped at just 20 entries and there are only a few left, so this free training weekend is the perfect no-pressure way to try it out before you decide. 🤗
Places for training are limited, so pop your details in here to lock one in
