Mountain Bike and run

The Mini Dusky mountain bike (10 km) and the Mini Pyramid run (5 km).

Mini Dusky mountain bike and Mini Pyramid run

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October 2024

The kids mini Dusky and mini Pyramid were introduced as fun events for kids who are too young to attempt the longer events. They were designed for kids ranging in age from about 5 to 12-13 years. Now that we have introduced a 10km run and 16km mountain bike, some of the older kids may want to try the longer distance. As there is such an age range in these kids ‘mini’ events, we do not award place-getters and there is no formal prize-giving for the kids. However all kids receive a bunch of goodies and food, plus the satisfaction of having given it a go.

The Mini Dusky and the Mini Pyramid are aimed at all ages although we ask that kids under nine get accompanied by a responsible older person. Maximum age in the 5km run and 10km bike should be around 12 – 13. The events start and finish at the same place as the larger events and take in parts of the full courses.

Kids mini Dusky Trail

Info

Kids in the Mini Dusky start on the same route as everyone else but when you cross the bridge over the canal, turn left. After about 150 metres, a marshal will show you where to turn right onto a 4 WD track. Follow this until a junction where another marshal will point you up a track leading to a wee short hill followed by a winding course through a plantation forest.

At the end of this forest, turn hard right and head back down a 4 WD track to join the original course again. Follow this back towards the start until approximately 50 metres from the exit gate, turn left and do a small circuit leading into the start/finish area. There will be marshals on all the main corners.

Kids under 9 must be accompanied by an adult or responsible teenager.

The kids events start about five minutes after each of their respective main events.

There is no formal prize-giving for the kids. They are given a bunch of goodies and some food after the event.

There is a great spot prize of a kids bike to be won!

Info

Kids in the Mini Pyramid start on the same route as everyone else but when you cross the bridge over the canal, turn right instead of left. After about 50 metres, a marshal will show you where to turn left into a paddock and keep following the track around beside the fence until you get to a gate.

Another marshal will turn you left onto the single lane track. Follow this down beside the Fraser Stream until you hit the Canal Road and then come back down the road you started on. Approximately 50 metres from the exit gate, turn left and do a small circuit leading into the start/finish area. There will be marshals on all the main corners.

Kids under 9 must be accompanied by an adult or responsible teenager.
