Pyramid Run Course

Start/Finish is at Ben Ohau Station: To get there from Sate Highway 8 turn west 200 metres south of the bridge over the Twizel River, and follow Glen Lyon Road for 6 km (do not go down the unsealed Old Glen Lyon Road). Ben Ohau Station is on the left, the start/finish is 500 metres beyond the homestead and over the Fraser River on your right. It is visible from the road. Portable toilets will be provided. Shelter is limited – bring warm clothes as it can be cold, especially at the start.

Half marathon Course

The course follows the sealed road across the canal, turns left, then along the canal road for 400 metres before turning right through a gate onto good quality farm tracks which take you clockwise around ‘the Pyramid’. From the first gate the course climbs 200 metres in altitude over a distance of six km to the Pyramid Saddle, where you’ll find a drink station and superb views. After a short descent, the trail then climbs gently over 1 km to the high point of 770 m. near the base of the Ben Ohau Range. At this point head back down to the Darts Bush Stream crossing where another drink station is situated.

From here a gentle descent on a 4WD track over a distance of 5 km brings you to a crossing of Fraser Stream. You have now connected with the Dusky Trail which meanders through matagouri, tussock and wetlands via 4WD and single-track back to the canal road and the start/finish line.

Total altitude gain is 290 m.

10 km course

The 10 km course follows the same route as the main course until you reach the end of the plantation area where the first drink station is located. At this point turn hard right and head back down a 4 WD track to join the original course again. Follow this back towards the start until approximately 50 metres from the exit gate, turn left and do a small circuit leading into the start/finish area.
